Here is How BRFL Textiles Pvt. Ltd. Pioneers Sustainability

The World Environment Day is just around the corner. Every year, June 5th serves as a reminder that there is no Planet B. And every year trees are planted, beaches are cleaned up, and awareness campaigns are organised across the globe to celebrate this day. But sustainability is not a one-day mission. Not at BRFL Textiles Pvt. Ltd. Here, sustainability is a process that is at the very core of the organisation’s ethics. We have not only identified the environment issues that plague the textile industry, but also set new sustainability benchmarks across the industry using state-of-the-art processes, enabling a more sustainable future for our vast global customer base.

Water-conservation is our top priority

AT BRFL Textiles Pvt. Ltd., all measures are taken in order to maximise efficient water usage. In an industry first, we have introduced a new sulphur dyeing process; a continuous dyeing method that does not require any water, allowing a reduced water requirement. Most of the reactive dyes in the plant are produced with an e-control process which reduces the amount of salt generation, thereby reducing the amount of total dissolved solids (or TDS) in the water.

The reverse osmosis unit at the Tarapur plant currently has a capacity to reuse 50% of the effluent water, equipping the unit to recycle up to 4 million litres of water per day. And this is just the beginning; the company aspires to increase this capacity to a 90% in the next few months which would enable the plant to recycle up to 7.2 million litres of water every day.

Reduced carbon-footprints

An average person in our country produces a carbon footprint of 0.56 tonnes to 1.32 tonnes a year. That is a lot of carbon dioxide being released into the atmosphere every single day. We totally understand the emphasis on reducing carbon emissions to battle the menace of global warming. The energy co-generation design at the Tarapur plant has paved the way for a significant reduction in the company’s carbon footprint that even exceeds global industry standards. This cutting-edge technology allows the plant to reuse 48 tonnes of steam per hour, adding up to 250 tonnes of coal being saved every day.

Clean fashion at Bombay Rayon

A large part of the fabrics manufactured, like cotton and linen, are sold in their natural forms. Similarly, the linen and linen blended collections feature fabrics that maintain their natural fibre colour without any additional dye. Furthermore, recycled polyester is utilised to produce polyester fabrics at the plant. Steps like these result in products that are clean.
